Jaime Velez
Director of Rowing; Head Novice Women's Coach
A California native, Jaime is the Director of Rowing at Los Gatos Rowing Club. Jaime began his rowing career at Dartmouth College and was a member of the Varsity Heavyweight Crew.  While at Dartmouth, he earned the Marshall A. Robinson Award for most improved rower and 2nd team All Ivy in his 3rd year.  Upon graduation, he moved to Philadelphia  where he rowed and coached at the famed Vesper Boat Club.  He represented Vesper Boat Club at the 2008 Olympic trials in pairs racing

Jessie Manfrin 

Varsity Women's Coach 

Jessie Manfrin comes to LGRC with 14 years of coaching experience at various programs including Oakland Strokes, Mendota Rowing Club, and Jack London Aquatic Center.   Most recently, Jessie spent six years coaching the women at Oakland Strokes, the past three years at the Varsity level.   During that time, Oakland’s varsity women won three national championship titles taking both the V8+ and the Lt8+ events in 2014.  She also coached and assisted numerous wins at SW Regional Championships, sweeping the varsity women’s 8+ events in 2013 and the novice women’s 8+ events in 2011.  During summer 2013, Jessie co-coached the Canadian Henley training camp where her crews won the Women’s U19 8+, Women’s U23 Lt8+, and the Women’s U23 Lt8+ Dash.  During her time at Oakland, Jessie also founded and directed the team’s Outreach Program.  She partnered with schools and community organizations to enroll a total of 698 historically under-represented and disadvantaged students in rowing programs.  In 2014, USRowing awarded her the Anita DeFranz Golden Oars Award for this work.  Jessie rowed for Oakland Strokes in high school and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned her Bachelors in Education and her Masters degree.  She has a Level III USRowing coaching certification.

Teresa Guthrie
Varsity Women's Coach 

Teresa Guthrie coached with Jessie at Oakland Strokes for the past seven years. During her time at Oakland, she helped coach the varsity women to five national championship wins, winning both the V8+ and Ltwt 8+ events in 2014 and 2012. She also coached and assisted numerous wins at SW Regional Championships, sweeping the women's 8+ events in 2013 and 2010. Summer of 2013 she co-coached the Oakland Strokes Canadian Henley Camp, finishing in first in the Women's U-19 8+, Women's U-23 Ltwt 8+, and Women's U-23 Ltwt 8+ Dash. Teresa rowed at Cal and was a four-year letter-winner. She was also a member of the U.S. Junior National Team in 2000, competing in the Women's 8+. Teresa took the 2015 racing season off to spend time with her daughter Mika.

Blake Gourley
Novice Men's Head Coach
Performance Director

Blake rowed as a junior for the LGRC and went on to row for Cal. Go Bears! An injury sidelined his rowing career, but led to his passion for injury reduction in the sport of rowing. Blake is a Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Functional Movement Screen Expert and Corrective Exercise Specialist through NASM. Off the water he enjoys reading, writing and staying active.

Jake Carrigan
Novice Men's Assistant Coach
Middle School I and II Coach

Jake began his rowing career in high school with New Trier in Chicago, IL.  Jake attended Santa Clara University where he joined the SCU rowing team in his freshman year. That year Jake was voted the Most Valuable Rower and would go on to stroke the four that took gold at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadephia, PA. By his junior year, his team placed first in the West Coast Conference and third at WIRAs. After graduating, Jake transitioned from competing to coaching. He joined the LGRC coaching team in 2013 and served as the Assistant Coach for the Varsity Women's squad from 2013 - 2015.

Colin Heneghan
Varsity Men's Assistant Coach

Colin brings extensive experience to the Novice squad. A transplant from upstate New York, he rowed for four years as a member of Dartmouth's Lightweight Crew. He was a two-time member of the varsity crew in 2011 and 2012, where he medaled at Eastern Sprints, IRA, and was the most improved varsity lightweight oarsman in 2011. Colin's coaching experience includes the junior men's team and Adult Learn to Row program in Upstate New York, and immediately prior to joining LGRC's staff, he was a coach at the Texas Rowing Center and Texas Crew in Austin, Texas.

Katie Trovato
Novice Women's Assistant Coach 
Middle School I and II Coach

Katie joins the LGRC staff after finishing her eighth year rowing competitively. She began rowing in high school at the Three Rivers Rowing Association in Pittsburgh, PA. During her high school career, Katie competed with the USRowing CanAmMex team, winning two gold medals against Canada and Mexico in both the pair and eight events. After high school Katie continued to row at the University of Texas in Austin. Her freshmen year at Texas, Katie helped the Longhorns win the Big 12 Championship, rowing in the team’s first four. Sophomore year Katie stroked the first varsity eight that took gold at the Conference USA Championship. In her senior season, Katie stroked the first varsity eight to a silver medal finish at the 2015 San Diego Crew Classic and a gold medal at the Big 12 Championship, bringing home the team title and securing an automatic bid for the 2015 NCAA Championships. At NCAA’s Katie’s first varsity eight finished fourth, with the team finishing ninth overall. Katie also coached with the Texas Rowing Center junior’s team, assisting with the novice men, and the varsity women.
