Adult Masters Programs

LGRC offers a variety of programs and support for both sweep rowing (one oar per rower) and sculling (two oars per rower). These programs are designed to meet the needs of participants at all skill levels, including first-timers.  While LGRC’s sweep programs are oriented around competitive events (regattas), sculling is equally enjoyed as a recreational, training or competitive form of rowing.  Coached sweep programs run year around with registration periods at the beginning of each session. Spring season (April - July), fall season (August - November), winter season (January - April).  To join an ongoing program please contact the coaches listed in each program below.

Masters Programs

After completion of the Adult Learn-To-Row, LGRC provides various options including the following:

Masters Novice Coached Program

Meeting 3 days a week, the coached Masters Novice sweep program emphasizes fitness, technique and team bonding.  Participants should expect fitness training both on and off the water, erg work, and technique work.  Completion of a Learn-To-Row program or previous sweep rowing experience is required.
Questions regarding the Masters Novice Program - contact Coach Brittany at brittany@lgrc.org.

Experienced Rowers

Several options are available to the experienced rower interested in joining LGRC.
Rowers can meet with one of our coaches to be cleared for club sculling equipment use or rowers interested in a sweep-rowing program (co-ed novice program, men's competitive program or women's competitive program) can contact our program director to determine which program is the best fit.  Please contact Director of Rowing Jaime Velez at jaime@lgrc.org.

Masters Competitive Sweep Program
(Men's & Women's Programs)

Rowers finishing the Novice Program or incoming experienced rowers can join the competitive sweep program.  Programs typically meet 3 or 4 mornings a week and focus on refining technique in big and small boats and fitness development.  For additional information see Adult (Masters) Sweep Programs.   Placement of experienced rowers at the appropriate level of any program is subject to coach's discretion.

Men's Program:  Coach Katie at katie@lgrc.org
Women's Program:  Coach Holly at collettella@yahoo.com

Before signing up for a program, participants must be a member of LGRC. Click here to review membership options and/or to join LGRC.

Masters Sculling Program
Learning to row in single boats provides a different approach for the novice, focusing on individual skill development. For a more structured team experience, enter the Learn-to-Row coached sweep program. Rowers who begin with the sculling can move to the sweep program, and vice-versa.  Sculling offers flexibility for those who would like to row recreationally or competitively. Session times are determined by the coaches but are generally in the morning. For additional information go to Adult (Masters) Sculling Programs or contact Melissa Harper
