Novice Program

Whether an athlete is coming from a middle school program, from a summer rowing camp or with no experience at all, all high school athletes begin in the novice program.

The novice team is comprised of all first-year rowers and coxswains in grades 9 through 12. In the Fall of each year, our men’s and women’s novice teams practice 4 days per week after school and one weekend morning. During their novice fall, athletes learn rowing technique, discipline, improve their fitness and endurance.

LGRC has a no-cut policy meaning any high school student can join the team. Starting in January of each year, the Novice and Varsity Squads combine to practice in compete in age based categories throughout the Spring season.

If you are looking to join in the summer, please see our Summer Learn to Row Camps

If you are looking to join our fall program, please see our Fall Registration details.
