Program Description
|
Learn the fundamentals of sweep rowing (each rower has one oar). Each session meets 4 times - Saturday and Sunday mornings for two weekends. The program begins with an introduction to the boathouse and equipment, rowing terminology, safety procedures, and rowing technique on 'Concept 2' indoor rowing machines. After that, you're on the water! Occasionally, weather conditions might require that class be taught in a rowing barge.
We do ask that each participant commit to attending all four days as the information learned here is critical for successful transition to the novice program.
Each 8-person shell will have 7 new rowers along with 1 experienced rower and coxswain. Participants must be able to swim (a swim waiver is required), and lift 30 lbs overhead. Please bring signed waivers to the first meeting.
Swim Waiver
